Bradley Chase Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Bradley Chase Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Empowered by two degrees from the Montana State University system, Brad Chase had no problem with being called a “computer geek.” He was especially proud of his work as a computer programmer with the Veterans Administration, much envied for pioneering universal access to medical records. After graduating in 1982 from Billings West High School, Brad studied a year at MSU Bozeman and a year at North Carolina State University. He returned to his hometown of Billings and, in 1985, earned a degree in information systems from the College of Business at Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings). The next year he began working at the Miles City VA hospital. He later moved to much larger VA departments in Las Vegas and Reno but missed Miles City and his Montana friends. After 15 years and many promotions, he took disability retirement and eventually returned to Billings. Brad returned to college, earning a degree from the City College at MSU Billings in computer desktop/network support in May 2007. Bradley Clement Chase died suddenly on July 21, 2007, from complications of surgery; he was 45 years old. In memory of Brad and inspired by his passion for education, his parents established the Bradley Chase Memorial Endowed Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in a program of study at the City College at MSU Billings. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2009-2010.
