Bruce Meyers Memorial English Endowed Scholarship
Bruce Kemp Meyers was an actor, poet and English professor at Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) from 1967-1992, where he was devoted to his students. He was a teacher who instilled the love of English in his students. He also was a tireless champion of local theater. Prof. Meyers died of complications during emergency open heart surgery on February 20, 1992. In his memory, the English faculty, his family and friends established the Bruce Meyers Memorial English Endowed Scholarship. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 1992-1993.
Impact
“Thank you very much for awarding me the Bruce Meyers Memorial English Endowed Scholarship and for contributing to my education. I am an English and Music Performance major and am excited to be able to pursue my English major within this next year and be able to really define what I want to do there. I choose to attend MSU Billings for the main reason that I can stay at home, which is less expensive. As an added benefit, I am able to be around my family, which means a lot to me, especially right now. Some of my relates are deteriorating rather quickly, and being closer to them allows me to spend more time with them while they are still around. I can also pursue my education, which makes my family proud. I thank you again for your generosity and helping me further my education. It truly means a lot to me. I will cherish the opportunity that your help provides and I hope to make you proud.” — Korrin D., English and Music Performance major
