Charles L. Frank Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Charles L. Frank Memorial Endowed Scholarship

In 1946, Charles Frank came to Billings, Montana, as a teacher. He served as principal of the Orchard, Newman, and Central Heights Elementary Schools. In 1967 he became Assistant Superintendent of Billings elementary schools, where he worked until he retired in 1983. Mr. Frank was always interested in helping to improve and administer the education of the youth of Montana. He enjoyed his work in the school system and dedicated his life to making it better for all teachers and students. His career was a gift to the Billings Public School System. Mr. Frank passed away at age 65 in 1986. In memory of her husband, Mrs. Janis Frank established the Charles L. Frank Memorial Endowed Scholarship to provide financial assistance to senior education majors at MSU Billings. In March 2016, Janis passed away at age 88. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 1988-1989.

Impact

“I have made so many new connections these past years at MSU Billings. MSUB has provided me with a healthy learning environment where I have met many new friends. My experience at MSUB has been so much fun and I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. I’ve learned who I am and have surrounded myself with friends who support me and push me to be more of myself. Thank you for awarding me the Charles L. Frank Memorial Endowed Scholarship which allows me to continue pursuing my dream of becoming an Elementary Education teacher.” — Erin C., Elementary Education major
