College of Education

The College of Education at MSU Billings is dedicated to preparing competent, caring and committed professionals for Montana’s schools; conducting socially significant research to improve the human condition; providing community services aimed at improving the quality of life experienced by Montanans; and providing graduate education designed for the continuing development of professionals. The College of Education is proud of its accreditations and formal affiliations.

The Teacher Education Program at Montana State University Billings is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for the preparation of elementary and secondary teachers through the Bachelor’s degree, and school counselors, the Master of Education degree and the Master of Science in Special Education degree. The Montana State Board of Public Education accredits the Teacher Education Program.

In 1989, the College of Education Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarship fund was established through gifts received from faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University. The scholarship provides financial assistance to graduate students who are working towards a master’s degree in education and undergraduate students who are majoring in education.

Impact

“Your generosity and gift allow me to continue my education and MSU Billings so I may achieve my dream on becoming a licenses educator in Montana… This semester I am completing my graduate practicum in a third grade classroom. The practicum experience has assured me that teaching is my passion. Thank you for providing the scholarship so I may work in a field where my calling and passion meet.” – Raven D., Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction

“It means a lot to be selected for this scholarship, especially since it comes from the teacher education program at MSU Billings. When I graduated from my small high school in Rapelje, Montana, I never thought that a college could recognize me as an individual. MSU Billings has exceeded my expectations and has gone above and beyond to support my education.” – Elizabeth E., Health and Human Performance Teaching option
