Collegiate License Plate Endowed Scholarships

Collegiate License Plate Endowed Scholarships

In March 1991, the Eastern Montana College (EMC) Foundation (now MSU Billings Foundation) received a letter from the Montana Commissioner of Higher Education, indicating the Foundation would be receiving state warrants for our institution’s portion of the scholarship donations relating to the sale of college license plates. Donations received were to be used to fund scholarships for students in higher education in Montana. In November 1993, under the direction of the executive director of the EMC Foundation, the director of the EMC Alumni Association, and the president of EMC, the Collegiate License Plate Scholarship Endowment was established. The purpose of the endowment is to provide scholarship funding for students attending MSU Billings. The first scholarships were awarded in academic year 1994-1995.

Impact

“Without the scholarship you have awarded me, I may not be able to carry on with my degree in the ways that I hope to. As a full-time student who is also struggling to make ends meet financially, I can easily say that every penny counts. And with that being said, I am tremendously grateful to have been awarded this scholarship. It is a large factor in my decision of whether or not I can finish out my college experience.” – Karlee P., Mass Communication major
