David Craig Honors Endowed Scholarship
The David Craig Honors Endowed Scholarship was established as a retirement gift for David Craig, who served as the Director of the University Honors Program from 2011-21. It commemorates his commitment to students and to the University Honors Program (UHP) and such achievements as the establishment of the Research and Creativity Symposium; the prestigious scholarship applications and awards, most notably the Goldwater Scholarship successes; and the establishment of the UHP service requirement. David Craig fervently believed in the value of honors education to:
- foster the critical thinking skills necessary for navigating a complex world;
- conduct the inquiry and research necessary to tackle real-world problems;
- engage in active learning through leadership, service, interdisciplinary, and cultural activities; and
- provide the foundation for continuing intellectual curiosity and life-long learning.
