Dickerson/Knight Access to Education Endowed Scholarship for Non-Traditional Women

The Dickerson/Knight Access to Education Endowed Scholarship for Non-Traditional Women was established in November 2000 by an anonymous donor. The endowment provides scholarship funding to non-traditional female students with preference given to candidates who are a battered spouse, a single mother, widowed, or divorced. Scholarship awards continue to the same student for up to eight semesters of college provided the below criteria are maintained. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2001-2002.

Impact

“I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in providing this scholarship to me. The day I received the news it brought me to tears. I am a single mother of an 8-year-old boy and who works full-time and goes to school full-time as well… I am very blessed to have the villiage I have to help me achieve my goals. Thanks to this scholarship I am able to keep my goals for my education. Again, I am so thankful for this scholarship. It was truly an answer to my prayers.” — Carissa S., Health and Human performance major with a Performance Option
