Dr. Norm Schoenthal Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Norm Schoenthal Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Norm Schoenthal’s dedication, enthusiasm and passion inspired many students during his career at Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings). He taught in the biological sciences department from 1966 to 1994 and is now an emeritus professor of biological sciences at MSU Billings. Dr. Schoenthal played a lead role in establishing the Riverfront Park trail system in Billings. Norm Schoenthal Island was named in his honor. A college professor whose students succeed is no doubt a great teacher, but Cynthia Rogers believed a college professor should go one step farther and also impel his or her students toward achieving greatness. One professor in particular played that role in Cynthia’s life. Dr. Schoenthal pushed Cynthia as a student and that experience paid off in her career. In June 2010, Cynthia established the Dr. Norm Schoenthal Scholarship Endowment to honor Dr. Norm Schoenthal and his long-term commitment to MSU Billings, its students, and his profession. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2011-2012.
