Eric Robert Anderson Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Eric Robert Anderson Memorial Endowed Scholarship

After graduating high school in 2000, Eric Anderson joined the Army National Guard. He excelled with his role in the military and during this time he really grew as a person, an officer, and as a gentleman. While serving his country in Army National Guard, Eric attended MSU Billings, majoring in his passion — art. He was an exceptional, promising artist. His art displays were enjoyed by many and could often be seen on display around Billings, Montana. Eric passed away on July 3, 2004, in a single vehicle accident returning from Officer Candidate training in Fort Mead, South Dakota. In his will, he left $50,000 to the MSU Billings Art Students’ League (ASL), of which he was an active member. The Art Students’ League unanimously decided to honor Eric’s memory and establish a permanent endowment in his name. Income from the endowment provides scholarship funding to Art or Art Education majors who are members of the Art Students’ League. The first scholarship was awarded in 2005-2006.

Impact

“Thank you very much for choosing me to receive the Eric Robert Anderson Memorial Endowed Scholarship. I enjoyed the time I spent with the ASL and I look forward to taking a larger role in the future. I appreciate the consideration and opportunity, and I hope I can help the ASL reach out to the community.” – John A., Art major
