George H. Gloege and Randall G. Gloege Endowed Scholarship for Students Actively Interested in Protecting the Environment
Dr. George H. Gloege was a long-term faculty member at Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) where he taught chemistry and was a pioneer in the field of conservation education. In his memory in 2002, his son Dr. Randall G. and Mary Beth Gloege established the George H. Gloege Endowed Scholarship for Students Actively Interested in Protecting the Environment. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2006-2007. Dr. Randall G. Gloege taught at MSU Billings for 26 years. Teaching was in his DNA as was his father, George. Randall officially retired in 2006, however, his love of MSU Billings found him back in the classroom where he continued teaching one philosophy course per year. He was a tremendous influence in the College of Arts and Sciences and Eastern Montana College/MSU Billings. Randall passed away February 19, 2013. In his memory, his wife Mary Beth, appropriately renamed the scholarship the George H. Gloege and Randall G. Gloege Endowed Scholarship for Students Actively Interested in Protecting the Environment.
Impact
“The past few years at MSU Billings have provided me with new information, not only to steer my career in the right direction but also to help me excel toward my ultimate goal I am an advocate for the preservation and protection of wildlife and their habitats. I would like nothing more than to do my best to try and speak up for these animals and guard their right to exist freely… I would love to offer another sincere thank you. I am grateful for your continued generosity to the students — an now myself — that are honestly interested in protecting and preserving the beauty and science that surrounds us all.” — Jordan G., Environmental Studies and Geography major
