Gregg and Marcia Hafner Endowed Scholarship
Gregg and Marcia Hafner are both strong believers in quality education and the benefits it provides. They obtained their graduate degrees through MSU Billings in the 1980s and 1990s. Marcia taught Special Education students for 30 years. Gregg taught at the elementary level for a few years and then obtained his graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and has since provided vocational services to individuals with disabilities. They have worked hard and been fortunate and able to build a decent life so wanted to give something back to the University. Realizing the high costs of an education, Gregg and Marcia established the Gregg and Marcia Hafner Scholarship Endowment at MSU Billings. They decided to offer their scholarship to members of the LGBT community in respect and love for a family member who is gay. Their hopes are that with time the endowment will grow and help multiple individuals obtain their degrees. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year in 2007-2008.
Impact
“I would like to thank you for providing such a generous scholarship to myself and others. As I am sure you know, college costs a lot of money and any help is greatly appreicated. I also think it is wonderful that you look out for the LGBT+ community… Thank you, thank you so very much for the scholarships you provide.” — Kayla B., Psychology major
