Harrington Family Endowed Scholarship
Lynn and Bernie Harrington thoroughly enjoyed their college experiences at Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings), both in and out of the classroom. Lynn earned an education degree in 1980; Bernie a business degree in 1984. As a student, Bernie soon became a university ambassador, chairing the Student Union Activities Board, the entertainment arm of the student government. He also was active in the legislative process, serving as student ambassador to the 1983 and 1985 Montana legislative sessions. Since graduating, Bernie continues to be one of MSU Billings’ leading ambassadors, serving on both the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the MSU Billings Foundation Board of Trustees; Lynn has served as Bernie’s co-ambassador on numerous cultivating events. In 2002, Bernie and Lynn decided to take their philanthropic support of the University to a higher level by establishing the Harrington Family Scholarship Endowment to provide support for students in the schools they attended: the College of Education and the College of Business. Preference is given to students who are graduates of high schools in Butte and Circle, Montana, Bernie and Lynn’s hometowns. The Haringtons’ generosity will impact MSU Billings students far into the future. Bernie and Lynn are true ambassadors for the University and members of the MSU Billings family. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2006-2007.
