Hearst Endowed Scholarship
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation made a grant in 1982 to the Eastern Montana College Foundation (now MSU Billings Foundation) to establish a Hispanic scholarship endowment program. The Hearst Endowment Scholarship fund provides annual scholarships to deserving students of Hispanic heritage. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 1984-1985.
Impact
“It is such an honor to be selected for the Hearst Endowed Scholarship. It is this type of support that makes it possible for students like me, who must shoulder the cost of their education mostly on their own, to pursue a direction of their own choosing. I have chosen to stay in Billings and go to college here for many reasons. Not only will it allow me to remain close to family, but the Radiologic Technology program at City College is very well respected and the quality of the education is excellent for the cost. The overall value is important to me because I have four other siblings, two of which will be in college with me next year. This means it is an exciting time for my family, but also that resources are stretched and I need to pay for much of my college education on my own, with little support from my parents. They will do what they can, but the receipt of this scholarship lessens the burden and anxiety a little for both of us. My odds at successfully completing my course of study have just gone up, so I offer this sincere thank you!” —Jada M., Radiologic Technology major
