Helen Wilson Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Studies

Helen Wilson Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Studies

Dr. Helen Wilson joined the faculty of Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) in 1961. While on the faculty, she earned a reputation for excellence in teaching, advising, and research. In addition to publishing in several journals, Dr. Wilson was in demand as a speaker on a variety of topics, and one of the workshops she conducted with a colleague resulted in the formation of the Billings Rape Task Force. She was head of the Psychology Department at EMC from 1972 to 1975 until she resigned that position to become Director of Graduate Studies. Dr. Wilson passed away in 1996 at the age of 80. To recognize Dr. Wilson’s contributions as Director of Graduate Studies from 1975 to 1979, the Helen Wilson Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Studies was established to provide financial assistance to full-time graduate students who show outstanding scholarship, research, and creativity. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 1992-1993.
