Jane L. Howell Endowed Scholarship for Mathematics

Dr. Joe Howell received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Denver University and has created this second endowed scholarship in memory of his wife, Jane L Howell. Jane was born August 17, 1944, in England, grew up there, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Leeds in 1965, She met her husband, Joe Howell, when he was studying in England during the 1960’s. Her presence in all things related to the University, her passion for the Wine and Food Festival, her love of knowledge, her commitment to students, her support of the public radio, and her lilting British accent will be missed by all.

This scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2024-2025. With a passion for mathematics burning within, Dr. Joe Howell envisions revitalizing the mathematics major at MSUB, igniting a newfound enthusiasm for discipline among students. The primary intent of the scholarship is to encourage students to attend MSU Billings and study mathematics.
