Joe and Betty Roy

The Roy’s moved to Billings in 2019, having previously lived in Denton, TX where they were ardent supporters of the University of North Texas, particularly the College of Music, being named Honorary Alumna/Alumnus of UNT in 2005, and Outstanding Alumna/ Alumnus in 2018.

Joe is an avid amateur trumpet player and since coming to Billings he has participated in the Community Band, Community Orchestra, Shrine Brass Band and is active as a soloist. Betty has joined the Board of Directors of the Billings Symphony.

Both Betty and Joe are active in several community organizations and are eager to see MSUB, and particularly the Department of Music, prosper. To encourage the Department of Music’s prosperity, they created the Roy Family Music Endowment in 2025. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2025-2026.
