Katharine L. Morningstar Non-Traditional Endowed Scholarships

Katharine L. Morningstar Non-Traditional Endowed Scholarships

Katharine L. Morningstar lived in Germany when the Nazis came to power and later became a school teacher. She has endowed scholarships at many universities around the country. In 1987 Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) received a distribution from the Katharine L. Morningstar Trust to establish the Morningstar Non-Traditional Scholarship Endowment. The purpose of the endowment was to provide financial support to non-traditional students, and through education, the opportunity to discover potential and to enhance their personal, social, and cultural experience. The first scholarships were awarded in academic year 1988-1989.

Impact

“I am honored to accept the Morningstar Non-Traditional Endowed Scholarship! It is because of people like you that students like me are able to continue our education even when it may seem financially impossible. Thank you so much for providing me with this scholarship as it is going to make sure that I am able to reach my dreams and goals as I continue to move forward in my education. Thank you!” —Felicita S., Applied Science major
