Katharine L. Morningstar Traditional Endowed Scholarships
Katharine L. Morningstar lived in Germany when the Nazis came to power and later became a school teacher. She has endowed scholarships at many universities around the country. In 1987 Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) received a distribution from the Katharine L. Morningstar Trust to establish the Morningstar Traditional Scholarship Endowment. The purpose of the endowment was to provide deserving and earnest students the opportunity to discover and develop potential through higher education and to enhance their personal, social, and cultural experience. The first scholarships were awarded in academic year 1988-1989.
Impact
“I am so grateful for the educational opportunity that receiving the Morningstar Traditional Endowed Scholarship has given me. With this scholarship, I know I won’t have to worry so much about working for a living, but rather making sure I am living up to my highest potential while earning an education. Thank you for such an opportunity.” — Lily E., Fire Science major
