Office of International Studies Global Leadership
The mission of the Office of International Studies is to foster the international character of the university by developing a wide-range of international and intercultural educational opportunities for members of the MSU Billings and Billings community. International students bring many different cultures and diversity to the Billings Community. From food and clothes, to language and ideas, having international students on campus and in the community helps everyone learn more about the world and be more accepting to other cultures.
In 2002, the International Studies Endowed Scholarship was established from proceeds from the Wine and Food Festival to provide financial assistance to international students attending MSU Billings. The name of the endowment was officially changed in 2013 to the Office of International Studies Global Leadership Endowed Scholarship. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2012-2013.
Impact
“I want to express my gratitude to the Montana State University Billings Foundation and the Office of International Studies for selecting me to be a recipient of the Office of International Studies Global Leadership Endowed Scholarship. Without this financial help, I would not be able to continue my education as my family would not be able to help me with the money needed to finish it. I do not want to give up and will try my best until I complete my degree. This scholarship is important to me and will help me be a mother, student and an active member of the community, all at the same time. Thank you for believing in me and motivating me to give 110% every day and to perform on such a high level.” — Miglena I., Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology major
