Rob McCarvel Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Rob McCarvel was born on June 25, 1972, in Glendive, Montana. He was raised and educated in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School in 1990. He attended MSU Billings and would have graduated in the spring of 1996 with a degree in chemistry. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and enjoyed weight training. Rob especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Tragically, Rob died in an auto accident near Billings, Montana, in January 1996. In his memory, family and friends established the Rob McCarvel Memorial Scholarship Endowment to provide scholarship support to science majors at MSU Billings. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 1996-1997.

Impact

“Thank you very much for the Rob McCarvel Memorial Endowed Scholarship at MSU Billings. I am very honored to have earned this scholarship and appreciate how much it helps me to pay for my education. As a pre-medical student I greatly appreciate any and all help in paying for the long and extensive schooling I have ahead. I love working with and taking care of people and hope that my dream of getting into medical school is not too far from being realized. One day I will look back and be so grateful to those that have helped me through this very important time in my life, and you all, of course, are on that list.” — Douglas R., Biology and Pre-Professional Medicine major
