Student Support Services TRIO
Student Support Services TRIO is a federally funded TRIO program. The TRIO programs were initiated by the High Education Act of 1965. The original branches of TRIO were Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services (SOS). The term TRIO was established to represent these three programs. Student Support Services TRIO provides support for students seeking academic development, and assists students with basic college requirements by motivating students toward successful completion of their college careers.
The Student Support Services TRIO Scholarship fund was established at Montana State University Billings to provide financial assistance to students who have been, or who are currently involved with Student Support Services TRIO. The first scholarship was awarded in academic year 2004-2005.
Impact
“I am honored to be one of the recipients to the Student Support Services TRIO Scholarship. I chose MSU Billings because it is close to my extended family — I am a single mother of three and need extra support… My educational pursuits would not be possible without the generous support from scholarship sponsors like you. Thank you for empowering MSUB students.” — Zale S., Liberal Studies major
